The International Diamond Exchange (IDEX) recently released its loose diamond price index, showing a strong rebound in June, with a closing increase of up to 4.83%, marking the largest monthly increase in recent years. Despite the complex overall market trend, the price trend in the large carat range remains promising, especially for high-quality diamonds weighing between 4.00 and 4.99 carats and with a color grade of G or above, which have seen a significant increase in price, providing a positive signal for the market.

The report released by “Tenoris” on July 7th also indicated that the US diamond jewelry market continued its upward trend in June. Based on the data from the first half of the year, the sales of finished natural diamond jewelry increased by 3% overall, and some notable trends were observed:
- Consumers are spending less on low-priced products, and the market is increasingly focusing on product categories priced at over $2,500 per unit, resulting in sustained sales growth despite a decline in overall sales volume;
- Consumer sentiment is diversified, and there has been a certain degree of growth in the market sales of products including natural diamond pendants, bracelets, and necklaces.

Market feedback over the past six months also indicates a clear trend of differentiation in diamond consumption. Demand for round diamonds under 1.2 carats is slightly sluggish, while demand for diamonds over 2 carats remains robust. Current consumer groups prefer large-carat, high-quality natural diamonds, which meet investment-grade diamond standards and possess both aesthetic appeal and long-term investment or collectible value for generations. They also have greater trading value in the investment market.
In this year’s Sotheby’s New York Spring Jewelry Auction, a 35.01-carat emerald-cut diamond ring sold for $3.22 million. The main stone is a Type IIa diamond with D color and VVS2 clarity, flanked by triangular-cut diamonds. The final transaction price far exceeded the auction house’s estimated upper limit.

In the same auction, a pair of diamond loose stones also performed impressively. The two drop-cut diamonds, weighing 10.32 carats and 10.11 carats respectively, both achieved D color and Flawless clarity. They ultimately topped the auction with a transaction price of $1,347,100, far surpassing other jewelry items of different materials in the same auction.
