With the increasing development of the times, jewelry technology is also constantly advancing. In the rapid development process of the jewelry industry, phenomena such as passing off inferior products as good and deceiving genuine ones are not uncommon in the market. This is also full of difficulties and challenges for jewelry testing, and tests the eyesight, experience, rigorous and serious attitude, and patience of every tester for comprehensive testing.
Zhu Xiaoxia, a senior quality inspector, is currently the deputy director of the Diamond Room at the Shenzhen Laboratory of the National Gem Inspection Commission (NGTC). She is a nationally registered jewelry and jade quality inspector (CGC) and graduated from the Jewelry and Jade Processing and Appraisal major at China University of Geosciences (Wuhan). Since November 2004, she has been working at the NGTC Shenzhen Laboratory, mainly engaged in diamond appraisal and grading work. She has rich practical experience and has published several scientific articles, as well as participated in the formulation and revision of national and group standards. NGTC is an authoritative organization in the field of jewelry and jade testing, and the testing personnel employed here will strictly follow the standards and testing procedures to complete every task. Since Zhu Xiaoxia came to NGTC, she has been engaged in diamond testing work and has always been diligent and rigorous.
1、 Adhere to strict testing procedures. Conduct individual testing on all submitted samples, from the main stone to the matching stone, from carat diamonds to diamonds less than 1 point.
2、 Proficient in using complete detection equipment and able to detect various types of diamonds. Once unusual samples are discovered, collective discussion and research should be conducted immediately to form a more comprehensive testing process.
3、 Continuously visit customers to understand market conditions. Communicate with technology innovation enterprises to learn about the latest scientific and technological advancements. NGTC has always been at a high level in the field of diamond testing, insisting on safeguarding consumers. It was the first to discover large particle CVD synthetic diamonds, small particle HPHT, and CVD synthetic diamonds in the domestic jewelry market, making outstanding contributions to stabilizing China’s diamond market. With the continuous improvement of technological level, the difficulty of detecting synthetic diamonds is also increasing.
As a result, the National Gem Inspection Corporation (NGTC) has been developing testing instruments to enhance the overall response capability of the industry. In daily testing, national inspectors always maintain a high level of vigilance, strengthen their own learning, understand the latest technology, and serve consumers in a better state. In recent years, the National Gem Inspection and Quarantine Commission (NGTC) has also made breakthrough discoveries in the field of diamond identification. In 2009, the NGTC laboratory first discovered CVD synthesized diamonds in the domestic jewelry market. In 2011, it first discovered Ia type HPHT synthesized yellow diamonds. In 2017, it first discovered HPHT synthesized colorless small particle diamonds in the setting of inlaid jewelry. In 2015, the laboratory detected a batch of Ia type HPHT modified colorless diamonds and small particle diamonds currently synthesized by CVD. In 2020, Ib type CVD synthesized yellow diamonds were detected.
